Children’s Book Collection

The SkillsUSA students at the Presque Isle Tech Center are currently collecting children’s books for Aroostook County Action Plan (ACAP). The books will be in the waiting room of the children and family service department.

Corn Maze Fund Raiser

September 20, 2008

Presque Isle Tech Center is working on a corn maze fund raiser. It will be open to all elementary aged students for $2 per visit to the maze. Free face painting and pumpkins for purchase with assisted pumpkin carving will also be present at the maze.

Valentine’s Day Fund Raiser

The SkillsUSA students at the Presque Isle Tech Center have items donated for a Valentine’s day basket which includes candy, dinner for two, a stuffed animal, and a dozen roses. The students then sell the tickets for a dollar a piece or 6 for $5.

Maine Students Help Ronald McDonald House

September 15, 2008

The SkillsUSA chapter at the Westbrook Regional Vocational Center in Westbrook, Maine supported their local Ronald McDonald House during SkillsUSA Week. The students made blankets for the home. Ronald McDonald Houses nationwide provide a home away from home for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals. This year, the students also adopted a nursing home and made many monthly projects according to the needs of the residents.

Christmas Cookie Sale

We have worked out a deal with our Culinary Arts Department where we sell 2 lb tins of freshly made cookies for Christmas gifts. We usually offer: chocolate chip, oatmeal, sugar, and snicker doodles. The cookies are made and packaged by the culinary students and the orders are taken and delivered by the SkillsUSA members.
